A proper outdoor hat that happens to be beautiful. The Melbourne is felted from a blend of alpaca and wool — warmer and softer than wool alone, and light enough to wear all day.
We raise alpacas, so we are particular about alpaca fibre. This one earns its place: the felt is dense enough to hold its shape and soft enough that you forget you have it on.
It crushes. Roll it, pack it, sit on it — it comes back to shape. This is the hat that actually travels rather than the one that stays home on the shelf.
It sheds rain and blocks sun. The felt is water-repellent enough for a passing shower, and between the wide brim and the structured crown you get real coverage on a bright day — on the trail, at the market, or walking the fence line.

Looking after it
Brush with a soft hat brush, always in the same direction. If it gets wet, let it dry naturally away from direct heat. Store it crown-down or on a shelf so the brim keeps its line.
