Counting Sheep Alpaca Glittens — Convertible Fingerless Gloves with Mitten Flap

A whole flock grazes across the back of each hand. Hand-knit in Bolivia from 100% alpaca, these glittens work two ways — wear the mitten flap up on the walk out to the barn, then fold it back and button it down when you need your fingers for a gate latch, a phone, or a cup of coffee.

The pattern is traditional Fair Isle worked in teal, sky blue, red and olive, with cream sheep and dark faces marching along the knuckles and a snowflake band at the cuff. Each pair is knitted by hand, so no two flocks are quite identical.

Lined throughout with soft black fleece — no scratch, no static, and no cold spot where the colourwork changes. Alpaca is warmer than sheep's wool at the same weight, sheds moisture instead of holding it, and carries no lanolin, so it stays soft against skin that finds wool itchy.
